Buy a Brick

The Mey Turret Campaign

This year The Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust are launching The Mey Turret Campaign, the aim being to raise funds to build a Turret in the South East corner of the Walled Garden which will provide visitors with spectacular views out over the garden towards the Pentland Firth and the Orkneys. The walled garden at Mey is a wonderful example of a traditional Scottish Garden, adapted for the extremes of climate and geography.

Ashe Windham, Chairman of the Trust and a former equerry to HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, states, 'We are asking people to 'buy a brick' to help build the Turret and we have a range of bricks to suit all pockets from £35, £65, £250 to £1,000. Those subscribing will be made either a Patron or a Friend depending upon their level of contribution. Those giving £1,000 may have their name recorded on the turret.'

The turret will be built by local craftsmen from Caithness stone to blend in with the ancient walls. The Trust needs to raise £35,000 for the project which they are confident will further enhance a visit to The Castle and Gardens of Mey.
